A c-160 of the second series disgorges paratroops. Palleted freight, weapons, and even light vehicles and be  parachuted off the rear ramp.

The Flamant was unexceptional but thoroughly workable and reliable, and therefore remained in service for many years.

With the older LeO 20, the Leo 214 was one of the aircraft on which the French paratroop arm cut its teeth during its formative years.

The HM.1521 Broussard proved a long lived type and, after sterling service with the French in the utility and observation roles, was distributed to the air arms of France's ex-colonies in Africa.

The C-160 Gabriel is notable for its conspicuous antennae and in-flight refueling probe. The type's main operating region was the complex of air corridors leading to Berlin from West Germany. This allowed the crew to "listen" deep into Warsaw Pack territory.
